Babe and Buba

The Story of Babe and Buba

Our sweet pig Babe came from the meat industry. He was bought for a petting zoo, but once he grew up, he was no longer an attraction and was no longer wanted.
Many people don't know that a small number of farms in Israel raise pigs for meat. The pigs are kept in very small pens, crowded into tiny spaces with no room to move, surrounded by one another's waste. They are fed and fattened until they are taken to slaughter.
Babe was very lucky! In December 2017, he turned eight months old, an age pigs in the industry rarely reach. Most do not live beyond six months. Babe really was one of the lucky ones.
He is a lovely, friendly pig who wags his tail and, above all, enjoys life!

Buba's story began with a Facebook post from a woman who said a pig had walked into her clinic during a treatment session.
After making enquiries, we learned that Buba had fallen from a truck about six months earlier and broken her leg. Somehow, she had ended up in the care of the mayor of Kiryat Tivon, an animal lover who quietly cared for her injured leg until she had fully recovered. During the local elections, Buba was discovered after she wandered into his neighbour's clinic. He then needed to find her a suitable, legally permitted home.
That is how our lives changed for the better. Buba arrived at the farm, and Babe finally had a friend. Neither of them was alone anymore.
