Lior

The Story of Lior

Meet Lior, who came to us from the Be'er Sheva area. Volunteers found the young cow in a sewage stream beneath a bridge in the bitter cold. She was limping, with a hind leg that appeared broken, trembling and frightened, with little energy or will to move. She would not let anyone approach.

We learned that she belonged to local Bedouin herders. She had gone out with them that morning, slipped, been injured and been left behind. The herd owner did not intend to return for her.
Fortunately, we received permission to take her to safety. After a 17-hour rescue, she arrived at the farm. We immediately prepared a spacious stable stall, hay for food and warmth, clean water and a little feed to help her regain warmth and weight.

She underwent orthopaedic examinations for her broken leg. She appeared to need plenty of rest, pain relief, quiet, safety, warmth and love.
She was already allowing us to stroke her and gradually show her that she no longer needed to worry. At last, she had found a safe home, where no one would ever hurt her again.
